Accomplishments of 2006

1. The company’s sales grew by 30%.

2. The growth was realized as a result of an aggressive recruitment effort, both locally and globally.

Globally, Mr. Alp Malazgirt, COO of Nursing Resources, personally went to the Philippines twice to meet with the company’s local recruiter and interview potential nurse job applicants. During his visits, he initiated scholarship programs with the top nursing schools of the country.

Locally, in addition to traditional methods of hiring, Ms. Emmie Malazgirt, CEO of the company, put in place a monthly CEU training calendar. The sessions were advertised to over 80 thousand RN’s and LVN’s throughout the Bay area. This proved to be a very successful way of exposing Nursing Resources to a large number of nurses and recruiting some of them.

3. Nursing Resources obtained it’s MediCal license and successfully transitioned many of its Regional Center clients to MediCal and took on a number of new cases from new referral sources.

4. MediCal billing was transitioned from manual to electronic billing and was outsourced to our office in the Philippines.

5. We increased the administrative staff to accommodate the company’s growth and to accommodate the staff growth, in turn; we expanded and remodeled both the Fremont and San Mateo offices.

6. Company representatives attended and gave papers at three different prestigious International conferences, one of the presentations being a collaborative work between Nursing Resources and California Pacific Medical Center of San Francisco.

7. In an effort to increase the private duty business of the company, a new web site was designed and launched, specifically for potential private duty clients – www.bayarealivein.com

8. Two specialty nursing programs were put in place. IV INFUSION THERAPY AND PEDIATRIC NURSING. Under the leadership of Emmie Malazgirt, a number of RN’s were selected and trained to take on the growing IV Infusion and Pediatric Nursing business of the company.

D.O.N’ s CORNER

New and Improved

We have all heard the term "New and Improved" and I have often thought that if a product was really good in the first place then why does it need improvement?

The answer is really pretty clear. With advances in way of life, technology and our human expectations of how we perceive things, we are always looking for ways to better ourselves. Nursing is no different.

The role of the nurse has changed dramatically in recent years and the shift has come mostly into Home Care. Also, clients who would, in the past, stay in the hospital longer, are coming home with the assistance of Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Nursing Attendants. This allows the client to make decisions as to care, and also allows the nursing staff to work closely with the family for optimal outcome. This is not a new phenomenon but the way the services are provided is changing.

At Nursing Resources, we are always striving to improve by establishing new and better methods of serving our home care clients. With this in mind we have increased our visibility to our clients through increased supervision, phone calls to the client and case managers for updates on their care, inservices on professionalism, ethics and higher expectations, policy and procedure changes reflecting new guidelines as presented by Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Nursing Resources is proud to be accredited by this organization since 1996. It is the industries "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" for excellent service. It also means constant improvement of services. This goal remains paramount with Nursing Resources and the motto from the inception in 1990 is "We truly care". This remains to this day and into the future with the view that we can always try something new and improve.

Why Home Care And Why Nursing Resources?

What drives medical home care?

It is a well established fact that home health care is becoming a much more common way to receive health care because of the technological advances made in recent years. The procedures and the equipment have substantially improved over the years. So, if the care can be done safely and efficiently, one can bet that the patient care will be done at home with skilled nursing performing the tasks. NURSING RESOURCES, a JCAHO ACCREDITED provider of home health care services since 1990 can provide such services anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area with their skilled nurses.

But what is really driving home health care is financial facts. The costs involved for home care is about 1/20th of the costs associated with hospital care. With that kind of a ratio, skilled nursing performed at home is certainly here to stay and grow.

Another overlooked fact is that patients recuperate a lot faster at home because they are amongst their family members, friends, and, neighbors. Psychologically , they are driven and motivated to be well. That cuts down on the time to recuperate, which is good for the insurance and the HMO companies.

What about non-medical home care?

Non-medical home care is also becoming popular because Americans are living longer and healthily. And, for the comfort and convenience, they want to stay at home but need somebody to help them with some light housework, companionship, and many other countless other non-medical things . For example, one of NURSING RESOURCES’ patients has one of our caregivers pay a daily visit to make and drink tea with her. Of course, our caregiver does more than that. We observe our patient’s overall condition, fill out a NON-MEDICAL CONDITION report and communicate this to her daughter living in Florida on a weekly basis. The fact that NURSING RESOURCES can also do “skilled nursing” such as measuring blood pressure, temperature, vital signs, give shots, etc., is very comforting to our patients’ daughter. This allows the patient/family and NURSING RESOURCES caregiver to form a team, working together for the well being of our client. That is what we do best.

"Nursing Resources is a leading provider of skilled nursing and home health care services in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have achieved a level of excellence in the home care field that has earned us Accreditation with Commendation from JCAHO since 1996."
